Reverb 10 - Beautifully Different & Inspiration Avenue - Peace

December 8 – Beautifully Different. Think about what makes you different and what you do that lights people up. Reflect on all the things that make you different – you’ll find they’re what make you beautiful. (Author: Karen Walrond)

What makes me different?
-I have never decided on one particular style, so my closet contains everything from Goth to Hippie and everything in between
-I also have never really been able to decide on one spiritual belief system, so mine is kind of a pagan/Buddhist/Yoga blend
-I make a lot of stuff - music, art, photography..

Ok, so I am noticing a trend here. I'm kind of like a mosaic. In all aspects of my life, I'm like a mash-up of everything. Let's take my musical training as an example. I have studied western classical, Indian classical, and jazz, have been the lead singer and songwriter for an electronica band, and now am working on a folk/country album. I'm not the kind of person who knows what they want to be when they grow up. I just keep playing with all sorts of things and waiting to see if something works.

I guess the core of what I do is I make things to make people happy. Whether I am designing a card or singing at a one-year old's birthday party, or throwing a neighbourhood block party, I just want to make people happy. And I want to make myself happy in the process. I used to have it backwards, and I would do stuff for other people, but be miserable myself. I have learned that it is the journey in this life that counts, so if I am not enjoying what I do, then I don't do it any more.

Speaking of art that makes people happy, this week's theme at Inspiration Avenue is Peace. Here is my contribution, with credits to Kim Klassen for the lovely texture I used on the photo. It's another in my series of Facebook cards. Please feel free to download it and post it on your friends pages to wish them a Merry Christmas. This image represents peace to me because of the delicate balance of the snow on top of the ornament. Here is Peace (and Joy):

What makes you beatifully different?

  1. I love the thought of you being a mosaic- a beautiful and unpredictable collection of loveliness. I also love that all I have to do is type "jo" in my web browser and it automatically brings up your blog :)

Seems we all are puzzle pieces in the grand scheme, just not always fitting together, but sometimes we connect. I love your Peace ornament, so evokes the season. Great post~

  5. Your Peace Post and photo ...amazing.
What brings me Peace? Little things, simple things, taking a moment to step back and observe the Peaceful simple times of the day when everything else is whizzing by..

  7. I was here earlier today, but couldn't leave a comment. Now it seems Blogger has corrected itself. I really love this digital piece. It is so festive and appropriate, not only for the IA challenge, but for the season.
