Bloom 2012

At the beginning of this year, I chose BLOOM as my word for the year. While most of the year really felt more like SURVIVE, looking back through my BLOOM art journal, I can see that this year has brought me to a deeper understanding of myself, and to a more developed artistic style, which was my goal for this year. Here are a few shots from my journal:

I recently did something very brave, and took this journal to an Artist's Circle meeting, and shared it with the group. Super scary, but I am trying to put my art out into the world a bit more. Baby steps ;)

I love this time of contemplation, as I review the past year and look forward to the next. I'm still trying to decide on my word for 2013. I'm thinking maybe RENEWAL. I want to sit with that for a few days, and see what emerges.

Have you chosen a word for 2013 yet? I'd love to hear what you have chosen.

Whatever the year holds, I wish you all a beautiful new year!

  1. What an incredible journal you have now! I am so tempted to do some art journaling on real paper (I'm a digi scrapper).

  2. Thank you first for your lovely comment on my blog. I see you too have been at work choosing a word for 2013. Bloom is a wonderful choice. So happy to see that you are "putting yourself out there". You are talented and you should be confident that you have much to offer the world. All the best in blooming in 2013.

  3. @ Barb, digital work is so fun! I would do more of it if it didn't cause my shoulder so much pain. Whatever form it takes though, art journaling is great therapy, isn't it?
@ Heather Thank you so much!

  5. Hooray for putting your art out into the world a bit more! Scary, I know, but I think the world always needs more art.
